Roof walkways

Kee Walk® Rooftop Walkway System

Roof surfaces are hazardous, particularly in bad weather. Irregular surfaces, changes of level and obstructions all have to be navigated. Kee Walk® is an anti-slip platform that gives a safe, level route across the roof, taking obstructions and irregularities with it.

Features and benefits of Kee Walk®

  • Controlled rooftop access — keeps people away from hazards and roof edges
  • CE approved to EN 516 Class 1-C
  • Glass-reinforced nylon treads with excellent UV stability — they do not go brittle in sunlight
  • Treads fire-rated to Class HB of UL94
  • Longitudinal sections under 9kg/m — handled by two workers
  • CE marked under European Construction Products Regulation 305/2011

Two tread options

Both grades withstand heavy use, so a team can move around confidently on any compatible roof surface.

  • Nylon treads — raised and roughened sections for a secure anti-slip surface, with excellent UV stability
  • Aluminium treads — just as durable, with a sleek modern appearance where the building demands it

Combine with guardrails for complete fall protection

The Kee Walk® with Guardrail system pairs the walkway with a guardrail, so the route across the roof is protected as well as level. It installs on many roofing surfaces, giving quick access to elevated areas without compromising safety.

  • The combination complies with guardrail protection standards and removes the fall hazards normally associated with unprotected roof edges — useful where a walkway has to run close to the perimeter.

Need a safe route across your roof?

Tell us the roof type and where people need to get to, and we will design the run — including any stepovers and guardrail it needs.

  • A defined route

EN 516 Class 1-C certified, so the path across the roof is a specified walkway rather than an improvised one.

  • Level, anti-slip footing

Raised and roughened treads keep grip in wet weather, and stepped sections follow a change of level without a break.

  • Under 9kg per metre

Longitudinal sections are handled by two workers, so installation needs no lifting equipment on the roof.

How it works

From survey to handover

Book your survey
  1. 01 · SURVEY

    Free

    Roof route and traffic assessment

A surveyor walks the route people actually use, checks the roof profile and pitch, and sets where the walkway runs and whether it needs guardrail alongside it.

  2. 02 · QUOTE

    Fixed price

A fixed price for the run

The measured route gives the exact tread count and fixing configuration, so the quotation covers the full run rather than a rate per metre.

  3. 03 · INSTALL

    No hot work

    Modular and non-penetrative

Kee Walk sits on the roof surface without penetrating the membrane. A typical run installs in a day or two, with no disruption below.

  4. 04 · HANDOVER

    Audit-ready

    Certification and the paperwork

You receive certification to EN 516, the route drawing, a competent-person handover and the annual inspection date.

Is a walkway the right answer?

A good fit when

  • People follow the same route across the roof regularly
  • The surface is irregular, fragile underfoot or slippery in bad weather
  • The route crosses changes of level or obstructions
  • You want to keep foot traffic off the roof covering itself

Inspection & recertification

Inspected and kept certified

Walkways take daily foot traffic, and fixings, treads and stepover platforms all need checking on a cycle. Mantech runs scheduled inspection, testing and recertification contracts covering walkways alongside the rest of a building's fall protection, booking the next visit during the current one.

FAQs

Questions about rooftop walkways

The standard a walkway meets, whether it penetrates the roof, and crossing pipework.

What standard do rooftop walkways need to meet?

Kee Walk is approved to EN 516 Class 1-C and CE marked under the Construction Products Regulation 305/2011.

Does Kee Walk penetrate the roof?

No. It is modular and non-penetrative, sitting on the roof surface without piercing the membrane.

Can a walkway cross pipes and ducts?

Yes. Walkways drop into Kee Step® stepovers wherever the route meets pipework or plant.

How often should walkways be inspected?

Annually by a competent person. Mantech runs scheduled inspections of walkways alongside the rest of your fall protection.
